The genus "Acantholithodes" has only one known species, and that is "Acantholithodes hispidus", more commonly known as the "spiny lithode crab". This crab primarily feeds on shrimp, and as such is found in areas with dense shrimp populations (in the Pacific). It is very spiny.
Like other members of the Hapalogastridae family, Acantholithodes hispidus is found in the Pacific, including British Columbia. Also like other members of the Hapalogastridae family, this crab's photograph is provided by Neil McDaniel.
